2022 Commonwealth Games: Abraham Mensah grabs Ghana’s third medal

Ghana’s Abraham Mensah has secured Ghana’s third medal after making it to the semi-final in the boxing event at the 2022 Birmingham games.

Mensah saw off Sri Lanka’s Rukmal Prasanna and came away with a victory in the quarter-finals of the Bantamweight division.

The 18-year-old is guaranteed at least a bronze medal after reaching the semi-finals.

Mensah won gold in the National Amateur Boxing championship earlier this year.

He joins Joseph Commey and Abdul Wahib Omar as Ghana’s medalists at the 2022 Commonwealth Games so far.

The semi-final bouts will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

Abraham Mensah takes on Owain Harris-Allan of Wales in the Bantamweight division at 2:15 pm Ghana time, Abdul Wahib Omar faces Louis Richarno of Mauritius in the light Welterweight division at 3:15 pm and Joseph Commey’s bout against a yet-to-be-named opponent will commence at 6:00 pm.
