Three victims are confirmed dead after a commercial bus crashed into a gas tanker at Fumesua near Ejisu on the Kumasi-Accra highway.

Two female victims died on the spot, whilst the third victim, a man, died later at the Ejisu Government Hospital.

The Zhontong bus crashed into the Renault gas tanker with registration  GN 9384-20 which was on its way to discharge gas at a filling station at Fumesua.

This accident happened near Alhaji Saliya at about 11 P.M on Tuesday, 20 September 2022.

The tanker driver who was in the inner lane was said to have signalled other drivers of his intention to negotiate a curve to the nearby gas station.

Unfortunately, the bus travelling from Asante Mampong on the Kumasi-Accra side of the road crashed into the rear of the tanker, damaging it.

The timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Police Motor, Traffic and Transport Department(MTTD) prevented the leaking gas from exploding.

The police said 38 other passengers on board the bus who were sent to the Living Waters Hospital were treated and discharged, whilst others are still on admission at the Ejisu Government Hospital.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Juaben Government Hospital morgue.
