A 40-year-old tricycle (Aboboya) rider has died after throwing himself into a river at Mankessim in the Central Region.
The sad incident occurred on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
Reports indicate that the deceased, identified as Suleman, a scrap dealer, always complained bitterly about economic hardship and tried many times to commit suicide.
Some residents who witnessed the unfortunate incident said the deceased removed his clothes at the riverbank and jumped into the river.
According to them, they thought he wanted to swim. However, he never returned.
Some local rescuers dived into the river to search for Sulemana but were unsuccessful.
After spending several hours in the river without finding him, the chiefs and elders of the community poured libation to the gods to bring the deceased out of the river, but all proved futile.
However, the body of the deceased was found ashore on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
