Police in Ashanti Region have successfully rescued a female victim who was kidnapped by armed robbers at her home in Abuakwa.

The victim, Doris Adjei, a 34-year-old accountant at Mpasatia Senior High School (SHS) at Abuakwa Asesemaso in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality, was found in a bush at Mmetiam.

Police say the victim is undergoing medical review and psycho-social care.

“We are still on a manhunt to arrest the robbers, and we will surely get them,” the police assured in a statement.

Earlier today, the Ashanti Regional Police Command launched an intense anti-robbery operation to arrest two suspects who attacked two families at separate houses and kidnapped Doris.

According to the police, the robbers wielded machetes and robbed their victims of some valuables.

Residents who gave an account of the robberies said at about 01:15 am, they heard an unusual noise at the main gate of their house.

“They came out to see what was happening, and two men holding machetes suddenly emerged, pushed them back to their rooms and collected an unspecified sum of money and four mobile phones from them.”

The police further advised the public to be security conscious at all times and avoid doing things that make them vulnerable to attacks.
