The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyerematen, has condemned the attack on his agent in the North East region.

A campaign agent of the former trade minister, Ali Zakaria, was reportedly attacked during the just-ended NPP super delegates congress on Saturday, August 26.

A statement from Mr Kyerematen, condemning the attack said, the incident leaves an indelible mark on the integrity of the NPP’s internal democratic process.

“I would, however, like to express my deep sorrow about the brutal assault on my polling agent in the North East region. This is an indelible blot on the integrity of the internal democratic process within the NPP.

“I wish my colleague speedy recovery and God’s manifold blessing and would like to assure him and his family of my unwavering support for his well-being,” he said.

He also used the opportunity to convey his heartfelt appreciation to the delegates of the Special Electoral College who have chosen him as one of the presidential aspirants to participate in the upcoming November 4th primaries.

Aside from Mr Kyerematen, three others — Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, will be participating in the upcoming primaries.

The party is yet to decide the fate of two other aspirants, Francis Addai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko.

Below is the statement to that effect.
