The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi, has stated that Alan Kyerematen is not the solution to Ghana’s numerous challenges.

According to him, the former Trade and Industry Minister is part of the mess that has been created by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC National Communications Officer, in a statement, said as a Cabinet Minister responsible for Trade and Industry and a member of the Economic Management team from 2017-2023, Mr Kyeremanten actively participated in the destruction of the economy.

Mr. Gyamfi said it was under his watch, that the Komenda Sugar Factory was abandoned to rot for almost six years.

He added that growth of the manufacturing sector declined significantly and businesses were suffocated by the bad policies of his ministry and government leading to several job losses.

For this reason, the NDC National Communications Officer believes Alan is not and cannot be the solution.

The NDC firebrand asked if Alan would have resigned from the NPP had he been treated fairly in the presidential primaries.

“Clearly, it is the pain of rejection by the super delegates of the NPP and the intimidation and harassment of his supporters that is fueling Alan’s latest decision and not any superior passion to help heal the partisan divisions in the country. But it is too late for Alan to jump ship now,” he added.

On Monday, September 25, the former Trade and Industry Minister, at a presser announced his resignation from the NPP and decision to contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.

Mr Kyerematen is now the leader of the Movement for Change, which has butterfly as its emblem.
