A former GNPC CEO, Alex Mould and popular actor Gavivina Tamakloe would have to cough up GH¢5m for standing as sureties for convicted Sedina Tamakloe Attionu.

The duo stood as sureties for the former Chief Executive Officer of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) when she was hauled before the Accra High Court in 2019.

According to the Deputy Attorney General, the state will claim the GH¢5m bail sum due to the former MASLOC’s boss continuous absence from the trial.

“Alex Mould and another will have to pay GH¢5m bail for the woman because she refused to present herself before court processes. They stood in for her and we are determined to retrieve that amount for the state,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Tuesday.

He further stated that the convicted MASLOC CEO will be extradited to Ghana to serve her 10-year jail term

It will be recalled that on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, an Accra High Court sentenced the former MASLOC boss to 10 years in prison for causing a financial loss of GH¢90 million to the state.

A former Operations Manager of MASLOC, Daniel Axim, who was also on trial with Madam Attionu, was jailed for five years with hard labour.

They were both found guilty of 78 counts of conspiracy, stealing, unauthorized commitment resulting in financial obligation for the government, improper payment, money laundering, and contravention of the Public Procurement Act.

The prosecution accused them of stealing GH¢3.19 million while at MASLOC and willfully causing GH¢1.97 million financial loss to the state.

Again, they were accused of making unauthorized commitments resulting in financial obligations for the government to the tune of GH¢61.74 million.

The charges against the two also include GH¢22.15 million loss of public property, improper payment of GH¢273,743, and laundering of GH¢3.7 million.
