Alleged notorious thief found dead at Mankessim cemetery

The body of a 26-year-old man was discovered under bizarre circumstances in a cemetery at Baifikrom, a community near Mankessim in the Central Region.

The victim, identified as Kweku Kakra, popularly known in the community as ‘Kweku Opa’, was found on Thursday, March 7, with multiple bullet and cutlass wounds on his body.

According to the residents who found the body, his back was riddled with bullet holes and his leg was broken.

The discovery of Kweku Opa’s body has sparked fear and concern among residents, raising questions about safety and security in the area.

However, his reputation as a notorious thief has cast a shadow of suspicion over his death, leading many to speculate about the possible motives behind his brutal killing.

The residents said Kweku Opa reportedly terrorised the community with various criminal activities.

Meanwhile, the Mfantseman Municipality command has launched an investigation into the case.

So far, no arrest has been made.

In a similar case, a suspected armed robber, identified as Baba Mohammed, was shot dead by unknown assailants, and his body was dumped at Kasoa High Tension in the Central Region.

The body of Baba Mohammed was reportedly dumped in the town by an unidentified taxi cab in the wee hours of Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Information gathered indicated that Baba Mohammed had multiple bullet wounds on his body.
