The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has cautioned the general public that it will not tolerate any act of lawlessness in the city before, during or after the upcoming ‘Homowo’ celebration and ‘Chale Wote’ festival scheduled for next Friday.

Speaking to The Ghana Report, Head of Public Affairs of the AMA, Gilbert Ankrah, warned against actions that have the ability to tarnish the image of the Ga ethnic group.

“There is a need to address the situation before the main event in order for it not to tarnish the image and the great culture if the Ga people,” he said to our reporter.

He added that the Assembly would not allow any group or individual to take the laws into their hands and thereby disturb the peace and stability city dwellers have enjoyed so far.

“We will be collaborating with all the security services to ensure that anybody who will disrupt the peace in the country is severely dealt with,” he stressed.

Mr. Ankrah explained there will be massive deployment of AMA force ahead of and during the celebrations.

“Doing this will let the people feel the presence of the task force and this will deter them from causing any problem, ” he said.
