Anger at Adenta Housing Down!

A couple of months ago, residents of Adenta Housing Down, particularly those living on the Lilly Pilly stretch and its environs, woke to see a grader levelling our manhole riddled streets.

It was joy for all, with the residents’ association’s WhatsApp platform filled with messages of joy that the assembly had at long last noticed the area for development.

Unfortunately, our hopes have been dashed because the work done has rather become a nightmare.

The streets have become worse than before.

There are potholes everywhere, collecting water whenever it rains. Portions of drains constructed by residents have been damaged.

It beats us why the assembly authorised such a move when it was not ready to complete the project.

For many months, we have complained by writing letters to the assembly and by meetings with the authority, to get it to appreciate the fact that we are a key part of the Adentan Municipality, and, therefore, deserve a fair share of road projects, but all that have fallen on deaf ears.

Roads at Adentan Housing Down today are in a sorry state.

We pray that the assembly will redeem itself as soon as practicable.

Now, we can appreciate why the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, did not mince words when he pointed to the metropolitan and municipal assemblies their poor judgement and lack of understanding of their responsibilities.

Charles Benoni Okine,
Accra.
