Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum facing imminent sacking

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko and coach Prosper Narteh Ogum could part ways in the coming days due to the club’s poor performance in the Ghana Premier League this season.

The Porcupine Warriors have been dismal in the domestic top flight and are currently ranked 11th in the standings with 33 points.

Ogum has faced pressure in the latter half of the season, with the club managing only one league victory in 2024.

The Porcupine Warriors have suffered six defeats in their last seven games in the Ghanaian top-flight, picking just a point across the period.

Fans on Tuesday descended on the club’s training ground to disrupt proceedings, demanding the dismissal of the former WAFA boss.

According to reports in the local media, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Kotoko have resolved to sack Ogum if things don’t change.

The IMC is said to be on a hunt for a new coach and has already contacted former Karela United, Bechem United and Great Olympics tactician Bismark Kobi Mensah for his services.

The Porcupine Warriors will play host to log leaders, Samartex in matchday 27 of the Ghanaian top-flight on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Life Patron of the Ghanaian giants, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called for an emergency meeting amid the struggles of the club.

Otumfuo will hold a crunch meeting on Thursday, April 19, 2024 with the playing body and Interim Management Committee to address the recent happenings in the team.
