Black Satellites come from behind to beat WAFA in friendly

In an exciting friendly encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Black Satellites, Ghana’s male U-20 national team, showcased their determination by coming from a goal down to defeat West African Football Academy (WAFA) with a scoreline of 3-1.

The match served as a part of their preparations for the upcoming U-20 WAFU B Cup of Nations, set to be held in Côte d’Ivoire.

The game started with an early setback for the Black Satellites as they conceded a goal in the opening minutes.

However, the Black Satellites displayed resilience and fighting spirit throughout the match. Just before the halftime whistle, their skipper, Ofori MacCarthy, rose above the opposition’s defence to expertly head home from a corner-kick, equalizing the scoreline to 1-1.

As the second half commenced, the Black Satellites continued to assert their dominance on the field. Jerry Afriyie further fueled their comeback by finding the back of the net, giving Ghana a 2-1 lead.

The team’s momentum remained unwavering, and Clinton Doudo sealed the victory with another well-executed goal, bringing the final score to 3-1 in favor of Ghana.

The tournament, scheduled to take place from Friday, July 7 to Friday, June 21, 2023, will witness the participation of West African nations, including Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Niger, Togo, Burkina Faso, and of course, Ghana.

Ghana has been placed in Group A, alongside host nation Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Niger. Group B consists of Nigeria, Togo, and Burkina Faso.
