CAF CL: Asante Kotoko to adopt Accra Sports Stadium

Ghana’s representative for the upcoming 2020/21 CAF Champions League, Asante Kotoko is set to adopt the Accra Sports Stadium as its home grounds.

The report comes in after the Porcupine Warriors confirmed their participation in the African club competition being organised by CAF.

The confirmation is on the back of a letter sent to the club on Wednesday, September 02, 2020 to confirm their engagement in next season’s CAF inter Club competition. Kotoko’s confirmation was contained in a letter dated September 7, 2020, signed by CEO Yaw Amponsah and sent to the GFA.

The Porcupine Warriors represented Ghana in the same competition in the 2019/2020 season and have been given the chance to compete again, following the cancellation of the 2019/2020 domestic football season.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium which serves as the home for premier league giants closed and currently undergoing renovation.

The closure which was effected in February by the National Sports Authority for renovation works had the Kumasi based team moving to the Accra-based venue just before the suspension and subsequent cancellation of the 2019/20 season.

According to sources, the Kumasi based club are considering the Accra Sports Stadium for their CAF Champions League games if their home venue will not be ready in time to host their games.
