The Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has urged the leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reach out to Alan Kyerematen.

This is to serve as an effort to convince the former stalwart to return to the party.

He says all hands must be brought to the desk in order to bring back Alan to the NPP.

Mr. Kyerematen announced his decision to break away from the party and run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections on September 25th.

He cited intimidation against his supporters and the party being hijacked by a select few.

Mr. Mensah-Bonsu believes that an overture to the former trade and industry minister may resolve all issues.

“I think that every effort must be made, even if it’s a one percent possibility, let’s see what will come out of it. We are talking about Alan’s situation, where we are saying that let’s still engage if he will come back. To now go into specifics will be a difficulty, it may hamper the reconciliation I’m suggesting. It’s possible to bring him back,” the Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said in a media interview.

The former minister’s decision sent shockwaves through the political landscape, as he has been a steadfast member of the NPP for many years.

Mr. Kyerematen is a seasoned politician who is widely recognised for his contributions to the NPP and the trade and industry ministry.
