Michael Carrick has left his role as Manchester United first-team coach following a spell as caretaker manager.
The former midfielder announced the decision Thursday after guiding the Red Devils to a 3-2 win over Arsenal in a premier league fixture played at Old Trafford.
Carrick joined the first-team coaching staff after his retirement in 2018 and worked under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He took charge of the club following the sacking of head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and led the club to three games in which he supervised Man United’s 2-0 win away to Villarreal in the Champions League, drew 1-1 with league leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before beating Arsenal 3-2 on Thursday night in the Premier League.
He will be replaced by German manager Ralf Rangknick who joins as the interim manager, the club has announced.
As a player Carrick made 464 appearances for the Red Devils, winning five Premier League titles and a Champions League.
