Chelsea set to face LOSC Lille without unvaccinated players

Chelsea look set to be without unvaccinated players for their upcoming UEFA Champions League clash with LOSC Lille in France.

UEFA have confirmed that the second leg clash at the Stade Pierre Mauroy does not need to be moved to a neutral venue to accommodate for the Blues’ unvaccinated players and staff.

France’s current restrictions mean that all unvaccinated travellers are forced to isolate for a period of 10 days upon their arrival into the country, meaning that players – who are due to play Newcastle the weekend prior – will not be able to play the midweek UCL game.

Unvaccinated visitors can apply for a special exemption, but they are unlikely to be successful. French President Emmanuel Macron has confessed he intends to ‘piss off’ anyone who is not vaccinated.

It is not known which Chelsea players or staff members do not have any of their vaccines, but Thomas Tuchel did reveal that ‘key players’ would be affected by the travel restrictions (their own complete stupidity too we guess):

“At some point, everybody who is not vaccinated will face some consequences.

“Does that make it wrong that they are not? I’m not so sure about it, I simply don’t know. I took my decision for myself. For us, isolated as a club, isolated as a football team, there can be huge consequences.”
