Customs Division of GRA charged to enforce ban on grains, soya beans export

The Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA, has charged stations in border towns in the northern region to implement the ban on exportation of grains and soya beans

The ban, which took effect in September 2021, was due to expire at the end of March but was extended to September 2022.

In a communique issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority to some station heads in Tatale, Wonjuga, Bunkpurugu and Saboba, the Authority urged them to comply with the directive immediately and rather sell their produce to the local buyers.

In May this year, the government, extended a ban on the export of some grains such as rice and maize to ensure food security as there is no end in sight as to when Russia’s war with Ukraine will end.

The move is part of efforts to save the country’s food production sub-sector and boost domestic food production.
