David Beckham potentially involved in takeover bids as Glazers look for full Man Utd sale
The Glazers are looking to sell Manchester United in full and are confident that will happen given the interest that is already emerging in the club, sources have confirmed to 90min.
When announcing their decision to consider their position, United stated that a part sale and minority investments were also going to be considered, but it is understood that the Glazer family are expecting to sell up completely.
United have appointed Raine Group as their senior advisors to oversee the sale, and they were given the role after they managed the recent sale of Chelsea.
Raine Group have already been fielding enquires about United and are setting out minimum requirements for interested parties to meet in order to progress with talks.
A set sale price has not been announced – though sources have told 90min that they believe the club could cost in excess of £8bn.
Interest is emerging from all over the world, but though strong links are coming from the United States, and links to David Beckham have grown in recent hours.
90min has learned that a number of potential bidders believe getting Beckham involved in their bid, and landing his endorsement, would be of huge benefit. The former Manchester United midfielder has already been inundated with offers to become involved, and he is considering his stance.
In terms of taking United back into British ownership, Ineos owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe – a United fan who has spoken to the Glazers previously about investing – is expected to make a play for the club, but he insists he will not over pay on any investment.
