‘Deprived’ community rejects water project because DCE and MP are NPP

Residents of Kwasankrom in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) District in the Central Region have rejected a mechanized borehole built by the government, Adom FM has reported.

This is in spite of the fact that the community shares its only water source with animals.

Their reason for turning their back on the project meant to alleviate their plight was because their District Chief Executive, Felicia Aba Hagan; and Member of Parliament, Elvis Morris Donkoh, belonged to the governing New Patriotic Party.

It is not clear which party the community supports but it appears to be the opposition National Democratic Congress.

The project cost the assembly 20,000 and provided the community with potable drinking water.

For years, residents of Kwamankrom community have been sharing drinking water with livestock.

Reacting to the rejection of the project, the DCE instructed her team to lock up the water pump.

Their Member of Parliament was charitable in his reaction.

Elvis Morris Donkoh advised the people to be focused on their development and not the political party they belonged to.

“Whichever party that you belong to, whether National Democratic Congress, NPP or Convention People’s Party, the main focus of these political parties is to help our communities develop. So if NPP is in power, join hands for the development of the community,” he said.
