The Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has said that she is not bothered by the boos of some market women in the constituency during a recent visit.

Some market women expressed their dissatisfaction with Adwoa Safo by booing and jeering her.

The three-term lawmaker went to engage the market women on some developmental issues in the constituency, but she was met with some resistance.

In a video that has gone viral, some of the market women are seen chanting “away, away” at the former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The market women also made their sentiments clear by chanting phrases like “We want change” and “Adwoa Safo, we don’t want you again.”

However, the Dome Kwabenya legislator ignored the chants of disapproval and continued her duties by engaging with other traders who had extended their hands to greet her.

Reacting to the incident, Adwoa Safo said she is aware of the concerns raised by the market women and is actively working to address them.

According to her, the stalled market project, which had triggered anger remains a top priority and she is fully committed to ensuring its completion.

“I think that you should see our side of the videos as well,” Adwoa Safo said.

“Not everybody will like you. Daddy Lumba said ‘Mpem pem b3 d) wo, mpem pem b3tan wo’ [Which literally means many will love you and many will hate you]. Go to Dome market and my women still love me. But on the voting day, I know the love they will show me,” she added.

She further explained that she was invited to the market by the majority of the market women.

“I went there because most of the market women invited me to come over there,” she said.
