Don’t abandon the church – Tagoe Sisters to Gospel musicians

Famous singing group, Tagoe Sisters have advised Gospel musicians not to turn their backs on the churches where their careers started.

According to the duo, often when musicians from a church are able to make it into the mainstream, they forget the churches which helped groom them.

“Some Gospel musicians will be sober in the church but once they start enjoying fame they neglect the churches. Most of them will now go for personal managers and the churches have to pay for them perform in the same church that helped start their careers,” they told Kwaku Manu on his Aggressive Show on YouTube.

Tagoe Sisters, made up of Lydia and Elizabeth, explained that it was about time the younger musicians drew closer to the older ones to seek counsel on making good songs.

“Now the Gospel songs we hear seem to glorify the musicians and not God. We hear Gospel songs and we ask ourselves what impact these songs have on human lives. They need to be up and doing and be very respectful to the elderly,” the two sisters noted.

They explained that Gospel music is not a challenge and musicians should not be in a rush to compete against each other.

“At the right time when God wants you to make it you will. You shouldn’t try and compete when it is not your time yet,” they said.

Being in the industry for close to four decades, Tagoe Sisters admitted that their stage performance is top notch because they are always rehearsing.

“There is a saying that practice makes man perfect and the more you practice the perfect you become in what you do. Despite being around for a long time and performing on several stages we always practice to become better,” they stated.
