Dr Kwabena Duffuor Jnr., son of former Finance Minister and failed National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential aspirant, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has failed to win the contest to represent the Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency in the 2024 elections.

Hajia Nasira Afrah defeated the incumbent MP for Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency, Dr. Alex Adomako Mensah, and his nephew, Dr Kwabena Duffour Jnr.

Duffour Jnr was a tougher opposition to Nasira Afrah, losing by a margin of 8 votes.

Duffour Jnr garnered 203 against his leading contender Hajia Nasira Afrah’s 211.

He was in that race with three others, including his uncle, Dr Alex Adomako Mensah, the incumbent MP for the area.

The incumbent MP, Alex Adomako Mensah, was third with 86 votes, while political science lecturer at KNUST, Prof. Edward Brenya, secured 65 votes.

Following the declaration of the results, Dr Duffuor Jnr.’s team called for a recount, but businesswoman Hajia Nasira Afrah won the primaries to emerge as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency.
