EDAH Foundation Donates PPEs To Chief Imam, Kwashieman Residents

EDAH Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has donated personal protective equipment (PPEs) to the National Chief Imam, Sheik Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, after a courtesy call on at the Old Fadama residence of the cleric.

The NGO also donated some PPEs to residents of Kwashieman in the Ablekuma North Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

The PPEs worth thousands of Ghana cedis were donated to the residents as part of efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The items included nose marks and hand sanitisers.

Ghana’s COVID-19 case count as of August 3, 2020, were 37,O14 with 33,365 recoveries and 182 deaths.

This, according to the founder of EDAH Foundation, Mr Richard Debrah, calls for efforts at tackling the spread of the virus.

He was of the view that the disregard for Covid-19 safety protocols calls for urgent attention.

“it is a worry because when we don’t observe the safety protocols our case count is going to increase” he warned. “It is widespread that most people are not adhering to the safety protocols; we are also doing more education.”

EDAH Foundation focuses on education, health, social, economic and other major community challenges in Ghana.

Some residents who were beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the kind gesture.

Meanwhile, a senior nurse at the Surgical Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Abubakar Hakeem Hamidu, who lead the team on its COVID-19 education told XYZONLINE that it was time for Ghanaians to fight the virus with all the seriousness it deserved.

“Though you see people with Veronica buckets and soap at the entrance of their shops, people who patronise these shops don’t use them. Coronavirus is real and so if you are sitting somewhere and someone is making politics out of it, then you are digging your own grave.

“But the good news is we have good recovery cases, and our death toll is minimal compared to other nations, but we must all adhere to the safety protocols” he emphasised.

He called on the public to stop stigmatising people who have recovered from the virus.
