Ejisu by-election: Win or lose, I’ll keep serving – Owusu Aduomi

Source The Ghana Report

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent candidate in the Ejisu by-election, has assured voters that the outcome of today’s exercise will not affect his commitment to serving the constituency.

The former Ejisu lawmaker expressed his dedication to responding to the calls of his constituents, who urged him to vie for the parliamentary seat again to continue his good works.

Despite the high stakes of the electoral contest, Aduomi remains resolute in his belief that his ability to serve is paramount, whether he wins or loses.

“If I go to Parliament, I will serve the interest of Ghana. I’m not too concerned about winning the race. I’ll not be bothered if I win or lose. My ability to respond to the call of my people to continue from where I exited gives me joy. So what I will say is that I will remain an independent candidate and think independently,” he said on Onua TV monitored by theghanareport.com.

Mr Aduomi reaffirmed his dedication to prioritizing Ghana’s interests above any partisan affiliations, emphasizing his track record of bipartisan support for initiatives aimed at national progress during his tenure in Parliament.

Meanwhile, voters in the Ejisu constituency have begun casting their ballots in the highly anticipated by-election to fill the vacant seat left by the late MP, John Kumah.

The late lawmaker and deputy Finance Minister passed away after a short illness on March 7, 2024.

The electoral exercise is taking place across 204 polling centers, providing an opportunity for 106,812 registered voters to participate in the democratic process.

The spotlight is on the NPP candidate, Kwabena Boateng, and former MP Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who is contesting independently after parting ways with the NPP.

Joining the fray are Esther Osei representing the Convention People’s Party (CPP), and Beatrice Boakye of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG). There are also independent candidates Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Attakorah Joseph.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), opted out of the by-election.
