Fake military officer busted at Nkwanta South

The Nkwanta South Municipal Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, for posing as a military officer.

The suspect, Abdul Majeed’s cover was blown when he got into a fight with a motorbike rider.

He reportedly engaged the services of the commercial motorbike (okada) rider for hours.

Abdul Majeed asked the motorbike rider to take him to his residence to get money for payment. The rider agreed.

Upon arrival, the fake military officer refused to pay the rider, using his fake identity to intimidate him into waiving the fare.

This resulted in a fight between them attracting the attention of some military officers in the area.

Following interrogations, the officers realized that the suspect had no affiliation with the Ghana Armed Forces.

It was further revealed that the fake military officer had been using his fake identity to gain respect and authority in the area.

The officers reportedly subjected him to some drills for deceiving the public.

They subsequently handed him to the Police for further investigation and prosecution.

He is currently facing charges of impersonation and fraud.

In May 2023, the police arrested an imposter who claimed to be a military officer and a staff of the Intelligence Unit of the National Security in the Western Region.

The suspect, Samuel Owusu Dartey was busted after he tried to dupe a private land surveyor in Ntankoful.

According to the surveyor, a family hired the suspect to intimidate him to give up a project.

The suspect according to victims and residents of Kwesimintsim, was always in a military uniform with a pistol and handcuff tormenting and harassing people in the town.

The police retrieved the pistol, military uniform, and other items that the imposter had forcibly taken from people
