Following a clash between the Ghana Police Service and law students who were protesting against how legal education is handled in Ghana, Gabby Otchere-Darko, a leading Member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has publicly condemned the act.

According to Mr. Otchere-Darko, what the police did to the protesting law students was “disgraceful” and “needless”.

The renowned lawyer charged the Inspector General of Police (IGP),  the Accra Regional Commander and the entire leadership of the service to explain the  “needless and shameful use of force” on the law students who were peacefully demonstrating.

The over one thousand law students who thronged the street of Accra protesting,  were sprayed with hot water amidst tear gas about 100 meters away from the Jubilee House by police personal who claimed the student had no permit to enter the Jubilee House, where they had gone to present a petition to the president.

“This is disgraceful! The IGP and his Regional Commander must explain this needless and shameful use of force,” Gabby Otchere-Darko posted on his Facebook page.
