German club Vfl Stuttgart join Alexander Djiku’s pursuit
German Bundesliga returnees Vfl Stuttgart have joined the growing list of clubs interested in securing the services of Ghana defender Alexander Djiku.
The 28-year-old’s contract with Strasbourg expired last month, making him an attractive prospect in the transfer market.
According to reports, talks between Stuttgart and Djiku are advanced as they seek to bolster their squad for the new season.
But the Bundesliga club will have to beat off competition from Turkish side Besiktas, French club Lille, and Nottingham Forest to secure Djiku’s signature.
The Black Stars defender has caught the attention of numerous clubs due to his outstanding performance for Strasbourg in the just-ended season.
Despite the mounting interest, Strasbourg are determined to hold on to their captain. The club, with the backing of investment from BlueCo, is eager to secure Djiku’s future and is prepared to offer him a new contract to keep him at the club.
It is said Strasbourg and other interested clubs have presented their proposals to the Ghana international but is yet to decide on his future.
