Ghana Bar Association donates over GH₵ 30k items to Judicial Service

The Ghana Bar Association on Thursday donated sets of personal protective equipment to the Judicial Service to help insulate the staff of the service from the spread of the dreaded coronavirus.

The items worth over GH₵ 30,000 are to be distributed to the offices within the court complex to help avert the possible spread of the deadly coronavirus.

The package included Veronica buckets, hand sanitisers, tissues, face masks, washing soaps, spray guns, paper towels among other items.

The President of the association, Anthony Forson Jnr., presenting the items on behalf of the association in Accra, emphasised the need to donate these items as the country battled the spread of the virus.

With the country crossing the 10,000 cases milestone, Mr Forson said the disease had come to stay.

“Basically, it is common knowledge that COVID-19 has come to stay, so everybody has a responsibility to himself or herself and to the neighbour to ensure that at least there is no further spread of the disease.

“Therefore, the Ghana Bar Association felt it wise to assist the Judicial Service since we are partners in the justice delivery system to come and make this donation.

He also urged the general public to come together to win the COVID-19 war.

“When everybody chips in a little we get a lot. So it is a call to all lawyers to do something little to help out,” he noted.

The Chief Justice, Anin Yeboah, expressed his gratitude for the items delivered. He assured the association that the items provided would serve its intended purpose.

He also used the opportunity to appeal to other benevolent organisations to support the Judicial Service as the deadly virus lingered on.
