Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu back to training after long injury layoff

Ghana international Mohammed Salisu has started training as he continues his rehabilitation following a lengthy injury layoff.

The defender has been out of action since March 2022 after picking up an injury setback at Southampton. He missed the rest of the games as the Saints suffered relegation.

Salisu sealed a move to French giants AS Monaco during the summer transfer window following his side demotion to the lower-tier but he is yet to make an appearance for the club after undergoing surgery to correct a niggling injury.

His return to training come as a huge boost for Monaco and the Black Stars of Ghana ahead of their subsequent games.

The former Real Valladolid marksman will be a valuable asset for the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.

The four-time African champions has been will need to improve defensively if they are to perform at the AFCON tournament.

The Black Stars will return to action in November for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and in December preparations will start for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
