Ghana Football Association approves minute silence requests for fallen heroes

Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved the observation of a minute silence at two Ghana Premier League venues, namely the Nana Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Sameraboi and the Nana Konamansah Park in Nsoatre.

This decision comes in response to separate requests by FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC to pay tribute to two fallen heroes during their upcoming matches.

FC Samartex sought permission to honour a fallen member during their clash against Nations FC, while Nsoatreman FC requested to commemorate a departed individual in their match against Accra Hearts of Oak. Both clubs expressed their desire to remember and pay respects to these individuals who had contributed significantly to their respective communities.

The request from FC Samartex read:

We present to you the compliments of the Board and Management. FC Samartex 1996 requests that A MINUTE SILENCE be observed in the home game, Samartex Vs Nations FC in the Match Day 19 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday 3rd March 2024, at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in honour of the Club’s long-serving Administrative Officer, Mr Alex Eshun who passed on in January 2024.

Nsoatreman FC:

We are sad to officially announce the death of STEPHEN ANSU FABIRI, our I.T. officer whose sudden demise occurred on 20th February 2024. Kindly permit us to honour him with a minute of silence and the usage of a black armband by our players on Sunday in our game against ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK. We are counting on your usual cooperation.
