Ghana forward Raphael Dwamena set to retire after release by BW Linz

Ghana forward Raphael Dwamena will be considering retirement from football after BW Linz terminated his contract.

The 26-year-old and the Austrian club agreed to mutually part ways following his heart problems, which has affected his career.

Sporting Director of BW Linz, Tino Wawra explained the club can’t afford to risk it anymore and the ex-Levante striker should consider retirement.

“There was an appointment this week when we told him and his management that it was no longer an option for us that he was playing the field for us. The risk is too great for us,” Wawra told LAOLA1.

Waora continued: “We are very sorry for him. Apart from Salzburg, you will not find a player with the quality of healthy Rafael Duamena in all of Austria. It is a shame that he probably has to consider final retirement now. He is a great man, with a fine personality. That is why the decision has become more difficult for us.”

Dwamena went down in the OFB Cup game against Hartberg after he had a shock from the implanted chip aiding him to play.

He was rushed to the hospital but after subsequent examinations, the two parties came to an agreement to part ways.
