The Commissioner of New York City’s Small Business Services, Gregg Bishop, has praised the Government of Ghana for supporting Ghana’s ICT ecosystem.

He made the remark when the Director of Operations at the Accra Digital Center, David Antwi Ofori made a presentation on behalf of the agency at an IT Series organized by the New York City’s Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise in collaboration with the Ghana Mission in New York from October 21 to October 24, 2019 in New York.

The IT Series meeting was instigated by the Deputy Mayor of New York City, Honorable Phil Thompson, who believes Minorities and Women businesses in New York need to take advantage of the economic commonality between them and other nations because of the cosmopolitan nature of the City.

The four-day event provided access to relevant information on business opportunities in New York and also featured technical sessions on building strategic partnership that could support growth.

The delegation of IT Firms from Ghana were engaged by the New York City Department of Small Business Services, a department of NYC that helps to unlock economic potential and create economic security for all New Yorkers by connecting New Yorkers to good jobs, creating stronger business, and building thriving neighborhoods across the five boroughs and some service providers of the department for the purpose of match making and New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), an agency responsible for the city’s investment in industries that drives the economy, in sectors like technology, life sciences, manufacturing and fashion.

The team from Ghana will also meet with NUMA, a Paris based accelerator network and one of the first accelerators in the world, next to Techstars and Y-Combination, ERA which is the first accelerator in NYC, and one of the largest accelerator fund on the eastern seaboard and Accathon Capital a program that connects international entrepreneurs into the Chinese market for more opportunities.
