Ghanaian teen stabbed to death in London

A 17-year-old Ghanaian, identified as Nathan Bawuah has been fatally stabbed on a street in Shoreditch, East London. 

Nathan was repeatedly stabbed, just before 11 pm on Saturday according to the Metropolitan Police.

A police spokesperson addressing the press said another 17-year-old, has been charged with Nathan’s murder and will appear in custody at Stratford Magistrates’ Court after his arrest on Monday, February 19.

“Nathan’s family has been informed and continues to receive support from specialist officers. Formal identification awaits.

“A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 21 February at Poplar Mortuary,” the spokesperson said.

The police added that Nathan Bawuah was the second teenager to be stabbed to death in London this year.

Meanwhile, family and friends have poured heartfelt tributes to the teenager describing him as “a good soul inside and, so genuine”.

In May 2023, another Ghanaian woman, a 31-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the United Kingdom.

Johanita Kossiwa Dogbey was reportedly stabbed in broad daylight by a stranger in Brixton’s Stockwell Park Walk.

The Metropolitan Police said she was talking to her grandmother on the phone while on the way home after buying a birthday present for her mother and a few meters away from her home when a man approached from behind and attacked her.
