Source the Ghana Report

The Bible says that Christ died on the cross on a day called Good Friday.

Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum.

It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Great and Holy Friday, and Black Friday.

According to the Bible, Jesus was resurrected and returned to life on Easter Sunday.

Easter is a Christian festival and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.

When Jesus was nailed to the cross, he spoke seven phrases before he gave up the ghost.

Let’s take a look at the last seven utterances and their significance.

1.”Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”.

This scripture can be found in the Gospel of Luke 23:34. The Merciful one, Jesus, is quoted begging for forgiveness for the people who had put him through torture, humiliation and scourge.

2. “Truly I say to you, today, you will be with me in Paradise”.

This scripture can be found in Luke 23:43. Jesus said this to one of the two others that had been crucified beside him.

3. “Woman, behold thy son, son behold your mother”.

It can be found in John 19:25-27. Jesus said this when he saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby. He entrusted one another to themselves.

4. “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”

It is found in Mathew 27:46  and Mark 15:34. Jesus is quoted to have called onto his father for intervention that the pain at that instance was unbearable and had not left him for dead.

5.”I thirst”.

Found in John 19:28. Jesus knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty”, but the soldiers won’t badge but instead offered him a jar of vinegar soaked in a sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant.

6. ” It is finished”.

It can be found in the Gospel of John 19:30. With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

7.” Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit”.

This is the last of the last seven words said by Jesus on the cross found in Luke 23:46.

Jesus called out with a loud voice saying, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”. After saying this, he breathed his last.
