I was told Nii Kpakpo had relocated from Ghana – Giovanni explains Date Rush takeover

Ghanaian on-air personality, Giovanni Caleb has explained how he got to be the host of TV3’s ‘Date Rush’ show.

In an interview with Delay on her ‘Delay Show’, Giovanni revealed that he wasn’t nervous but prepared to take up the hosting role when informed by his bosses at TV3.

He said: “My bosses explained to me that he {Nii Kpakpo} was out of town and not in Ghana. As in he has relocated so this is the project for you and I said OKAY so when are we starting? Unfortunately I don’t ask questions so I started with VIM.”

The ‘Showbiz 360’ also reacted to the backlash and criticism he received when he was announced as he new host.

“I read all the 99% negative comments. I was a little hurt but laughed at them because I knew they didn’t know what was coming”

Speaking about Date Rush’s former host, Nii Kpakpo Thompson, Giovanni wholeheartedly praised him for his style and uniqueness in hosting all past seasons of the show.
