Ignore conspiracies, COVID-19 vaccines safe – Church of Pentecost

To debunk the growing misinformation and conspiracy theories, the Church of Pentecost’s executive council has admonished its members to accept the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Church dispelled myths and conspiracies surrounding the vaccines and admonished members to take the jab.

The Church said it has engaged in extensive consultations with ministers and other experts, and “it is obvious the conspiracy theories cannot be substantiated and are not sustainable.”

This was contained in a statement signed by its Chairman, Eric Nyamekye.

The release explained that the Church had constituted a COVID-19 technical committee, made of health experts with diverse backgrounds to evaluate the myths and controversies surrounding the vaccine.

“It is, therefore, the view and position of the Executive Council that The Church of Pentecost is not against the administration of COVID-19 vaccines duly approved by the regulatory agencies of the various countries”, the statement emphasised.

The statement, however, said the church would not begrudge any individual who refuses to take the vaccine based on their personal reasons.

“This position does not take the right of individual members to either accept or refuse a vaccine based on their own personal reasons. Ministers, officers and members of the Church are therefore discouraged from using the platforms of the Church to fuel and promote myths, controversies and falsehood to misinform people and members on the usefulness and benefit of COVID-19 vaccines” it read.
