Is Dr Afriyie Akoto Also Planning To Resign As The Agric Minister?

Source The Ghana Report

Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto was appointed as the Minister of Food and Agriculture in 2017 by President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo.

As the Agric Minister, he initiated some measures to make food affordable to Ghanaians especially those in the Greater Accra Region, Ashanti Region and others by setting up Food and Jobs Markets in some parts of the country.

A report by Joy News followed by The Ghana Report indicates that Dr Afriyie Akoto is likely to tender his resignation today.

This comes four days after Trade Minister, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, resigned from the government.

It is not clear yet the rationale behind Dr Akoto’s expected move.

Meanwhile, a report has disclosed that the Minister of Agriculture is expected to meet President Akufo-Addo later this afternoon to formally communicate his intention.

“We are told that there has been verbal communication regarding this matter so it is not a surprise to President Akufo-Addo. But what we are picking up is that at 2 pm when he meets the President, he will formally announce his resignation,” the report revealed.

Dr Afriyie Akoto like Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has the ambition of leading the people of the New Patriotic Party in the 2024 elections, hence that is the reason why he may be ressigning from office.
