John Kumah to be buried tomorrow

The late Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu, Dr John Kumah, will be laid to rest tomorrow, May 18, 2024.

The 45-year-old lawmaker passed away on March 7, 2024, after a short illness, according to his family.

The funeral will be held at Onwe, a suburb of Ejisu in the Ashanti region, where his one-week observation was also held.

According to the late MP’s obituary, he will be laid in state at Onwie Roman Catholic School Park from 5 a.m. and interred at the Aduapakye Royal Cemetery.

A thanksgiving service will be held in his honour on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Onwie Roman Catholic School Park.

He left behind a wife and six children.

The late John Kumah, as the first Chief Executive Officer for the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), successfully positioned the NEIP as the enabler of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Ghana.

Under his leadership, the programme trained 7,000 startups in 2018 under the Presidential Business Support Programme and supported 1,350 beneficiaries with funds.

Dr Kumah was the founding member and managing partner of Aduaprokye Chambers, a law firm. He also worked as the founder of Majak Associates Ltd, a building and construction company.

He was a lawyer and an entrepreneur with over fifteen (15) years of experience in leadership, creativity, innovation and resourcefulness in creating jobs and supporting youth development.

In addition to his professional achievements, he was recognized for his educational accomplishments, including a Doctorate in Business Innovation from the Swiss Business School in Switzerland and a Masters in Applied Business Research.

He also held an Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
