A Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) student, Kwadwo Asare Konadu Gyamfi, was rescued by fellow students as he attempted suicide.
Gyamfi reportedly attempted suicide by trying to jump from a storey building of the Brunei Complex on the campus of KNUST.
In a video trending on social media, Gyamfi, a medical student, was seen hanging from the balcony of his room in his suicide bid.
Colleagues who spotted him quickly rushed to grab him and pulled him to safety.
Hours after the video was circulated, a purported suicide note that he was believed to have left surfaced online.
In the note, he commiserates with his parents, siblings, and friends, explaining that his decision was hard to reach but a last resort.
He put his situation down to depression, which pushed him to see nothing to live for.
“I’ve been seeing demons … and actually heard one speak,” he wrote in portions of the note.
The university authorities are yet to respond to the incident.
