Kumasi Asante Kotoko began the second round of the 2021-22 season with a crucial win over Dreams FC  at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors recorded a 2-0 win over the Still Believe side to open a 10-point gap at the top of the league table.

Two goals by the league’s top scorer, Franck Thierry Mbella Etouga, were enough for the Kumasi-based team to open a 14 point gap between them and the defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak.

Both goals were scored in the second after the Cameroonian striker proved to be a handful for the Dreams defenders, who could only bring him down for a penalty on two occasions.

Kotoko have 40 points from 18 matches and are 10 points clear of Bechem United FC, who were defeated by Medeama SC and sit second with 30 points.

Kotoko’s next game will be a trip to Bechem for a crucial game between the league leaders and the second placed team.
