Low attendance at Ghana Premier League games due to economic hardship – Ahmed Adams

Berekum Chelsea’s defender Ahmed Adams has voiced his concerns regarding the notably low attendance at venues hosting Ghana Premier League (GPL) matches throughout the 2023/2024 season.

The stands, adorned with vast empty seats, present a striking contrast to the lively atmosphere typically associated with Ghana’s premiere football competition.

Rather than being filled to capacity, only a scattering of dedicated fans can be spotted amidst the rows of vacant seats.

Adams, who previously played for Asante Kotoko SC, attributed the dismal attendance figures to the prevailing economic challenges facing the nation.

“The game is improving, and everything is moving on well. Only a few points separate one club from another on the table, making the league highly competitive,” he told 3 Sports.

“However, the attendance at the stadium is a problem due to the economic challenges. With everything being costly lately, people are unable to attend matches. This is undermining the Ghana Premier League.”

Berekum Chelsea will host Asante Kotoko in a crucial Ghana Premier League Week 30 game on Saturday afternoon at the Golden City Park.
