A husband has left his pregnant wife battling for her life after inflicting cutlass wounds on her at Banda in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region.
The assembly member of Donwieso West Electoral Area, John Mpoebi Nteleye, told reporters that the victim, Mesuna Adiza, is seven months pregnant.
He explained that she sustained deep cuts to her forehead, hands, mouth, shoulder, and stomach.
He added that they are yet to determine the motive behind the attack by her husband, Ibrahim Anas, as she is currently unable to provide them with details due to her condition.
The victim has since been rushed to the Banda Health emergency ward for medical treatment.
Godfred Atsu Kpodo, a Physician Assistant at the health centre, gave an update on her condition, saying the victim is responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, the suspect is in police custody, but the police have not yet provided any information about the incident.
In October 2023, a 23-year-old farmer, Kwadwo Noah, attacked and killed his pregnant wife at Kwahu Nframa in the Eastern region.
Noah also injured his two-year-old daughter after attacking his wife on his farm.
It was not clear what triggered his action.
However, information gathered indicated that after he committed this heinous crime, he called his mother on the phone to inform her about the incident.
His mother and some residents rushed to the farm and found the pregnant woman lying in a pool of blood.
According to the Queen mother of Kwahu Nframa, Nana Amoakoaa Ogyampa, she suspected Noah was under the influence of drugs.
