The Minority in Parliament has rescheduled its protest against the Governor of the Bank of Ghana(BoG), Dr Ernest Addison, to September 12, 2023.

The protest was scheduled for September 5, 2023, to demand the resignation of the Governor of the central bank and his deputies over alleged mismanagement.

It was, however, suspended after the Ghana police filed an application for an injunction at the High Court against their proposed route.

In a statement, the Minority said, “The court was unable to give an instant ruling due to the weight of the preliminary legal objections raised by the lawyers for the Minority in Parliament and requested the indulgence of the Minority to give its ruling on Friday, September 8 2023”.

The statement maintained that they would march along the same route they initially proposed to the police.

According to the Minority, the march will commence from the front of Parliament House- Osu Cemetary Traffic light- Ministry of Finance – High Court Complex – Kinbu – Makola Rawlings Park – Opera Square and end at the Bank of Ghana.

“We wish to call on Ghanaians to remain resolute in the fight to protect our constitutional right to demonstrate and hereby assure them that the march to the Bank of Ghana will certainly take place on Tuesday, September 12, 2023,” the statement assured.
