MMDCEs referendum: Transfer of votes, proxy voting set to begin October 25

The Electoral commission has announced it will start receiving application for vote transfers and proxy voting on Friday 25th October, 2019 ahead of the MMDCEs referendum.

The exercise which will be held in its district offices across the country is expected to end on 4th November.

In a statement signed by Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensah said :

“All security personnel who previously registered in the Districts where they reside should contact their District officers in their respective districts for a transfer of their vote to enable them vote in the special voting exercise scheduled for the 10th of December ahead of the 2019 referendum”.

According to the commission, those who transferred their votes to participate in the 2018 referenda must through the process again.

“the public is hereby informed that voters who transferred their votes to enable them vote in the 2018 referenda will be required to go through the process of transferring their votes again as the 2018 transfers were temporal”.

It is however advising the public to take note and act accordingly.
