NDC Manhyia South Organiser granted bail

The Constituency Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Manhyia South in the Ashanti Region, Mustapha Alhassan, has been granted bail by the police after being charged with offenses related to his conduct.

Mr Alhassan was charged with Offensive Conduct likely to be a breach of peace and making threats of death.

The arrest followed a viral video in which Alhassan Mustapha was seen making provocative remarks concerning the upcoming 2024 elections.

The viral video captures Mr Alhassan passionately challenging the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and issuing threats of violence should they attempt to manipulate the elections.

In the video, he goes to the extent of suggesting the possibility of engaging in violent confrontations, even if it entails resorting to fatal measures, to safeguard the victory of the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

The video raised concerns about potential unrest.

Following his comments, the police declared him wanted.

Subsequently, Executives of the NDC in the Ashanti Region handed over the Manhyia South Organizer of the Party to the police, insisting the party would not condone intimidation and selective police action.

After being charged, the police granted him bail, allowing for his release pending further legal proceedings.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, Augustus Nana Kwasi insisted after his release that there was nothing wrong with the Constituency Organizer’s statement.
