Nigeria captain Musa sends strong warning to Ghana ahead of play-off

Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa has sent Ghana a strong warning ahead of the 2022 World Cup play-off next month.

The winner of the two-legged tie will be in Qatar later this year alongside four other African countries.

Ghana will host Nigeria on Thursday, March 24 for the first leg at the Cape Coast sports stadium in the central region of Ghana, while the return leg comes off in three days later at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

“The FIFA World Cup is the biggest football tournament in the world, and every player wants to feature there. A good number of the players in the team now have not been there, and the few of us that have been there want to experience it again”, Musa told the officials at the meeting on Tuesday night, as reported by the NFF.

“We just want the NFF to help us get enough fans into the Abuja Stadium for the second leg. We will go to Ghana and dig our feet and ensure we get a result. We must admit that Ghana also want to qualify and they have a strong team. The return leg will be crucial and we are ready for the battle, but we want our fans to be in there cheering us on”, Musa added.

Musa with four goals is two behind Asamoah Gyan who holds the record for the most goals by an African in the history of the World Cup.

The 29-year old Fatih Karagümrük S.K winger is hoping to be in Qatar to break the enviable record.
