NPP/NDC Politics: Mahama is not your enemy but your elder brother -Ya-Na tells Bawumia
Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama II, the Overlord of the Dagbon Traditional Area, has advised the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to see his key competitor, former President John Dramani Mahama, as senior brother rather than an enemy.
Addressing Dr. Bawumia during a courtesy call on November 21, Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama II admonished Vice President Bawumia to conduct a clean and respectful campaign as the nation gears towards the 2024 general elections.
According to Ya-Na, former President John Dramani Mahama is also a son of Dagbon and shares the same aspirations for the country’s development; therefore, their politics should be devoid of disrespect towards one another.
He added that with Ghanaians entrusting leadership roles in their hands as northerners, there is a need for both to ensure they maintain unity and harmony in the country, regardless of their political affiliations.
“He is not your enemy or rival, but your brother, your elder brother,” Ya Na Abubakari Mahama II remarked. “As Northerners, we have already won the elections. Whoever wins this trophy is coming home”.
“It’s a crucial opportunity for us to showcase our maturity, competence, honesty, and commitment to Ghana’s progress,” Ya Na Abubakari Mahama II stated, adding “You are my son, Dr. Bawumia, and John Mahama, your competitor, is also my son. Both of you are fully committed to this election,” Ya-Na II added.
Meanwhile, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and former President Mahama are having heated arguments over the 24-hour economy policy.
Mahama has assured Ghanaians of a 24-hour economy policy, one of the ways of revamping the economy when he is elected president in 2024.
However, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia asserts that the policy is already in practice in various sectors, such as hospitals and fuel companies; therefore, it is nothing new.
He encourages Ghanaians to overlook Mr. Mahama’s proposal during the 2024 election, emphasizing that the New Patriotic Party presents a more impactful choice.
