NPP Presidential Race: I accept the results – Kennedy Agyapong

Presidential aspirant and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has accepted defeat in the just-ended NPP presidential primaries.

He expressed his belief that the elections were conducted fairly and urged the rank and file of the party to put any differences from the elections behind them and come together to win the 2024 general elections.

“I believe the party has been fair and transparent. That is the only thing I have always been preaching, this election is fair, my grassroots have spoken, I accept the results in good faith,” he said.

“We are going to work tirelessly to break the 8. We should put everything behind us and let us unite this party, with unity I believe we can break the 8, that is all I have been advocating for. I congratulate the Election Committee, Police, EC, and the party members for the commitment you have shown for peace. We have to come together and we’ll give the NDC a showdown,” he added.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been elected as the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr Bawumia emerged victorious at the just-ended NPP presidential race held across the 275 constituencies in the country.

Certified results from the Electoral Commission (EC) available to The Ghana Report indicate that Dr. Bawumia obtained 113, 210 votes (61.47%),  Kennedy Agyapong comes in second with 71,996 votes.

The former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, comes in third with 1,459 votes followed by Francis Addai-Nimoh with 781 votes.

The total vote cast was 193,346, with 900 rejected votes.
