NPP Primary: Kwasi Nyantakyi visits Ejisu voting centre from sick bed

Former GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi, who is contesting the ongoing Ejisu New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary primary, has made his way to the voting centre from his sick bed.

The lawyer cum politician was on Friday, April 12, 2024, hospitalized, 12 hours before the election.

A source from his campaign team confirmed that Mr. Nyantakyi suffered stomach pain on Friday night and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to the source, Mr Nyantakyi’s illness may have been caused by poor eating “due to his busy schedule ahead of Saturday’s polls, including a planned meeting with delegates.”

He was taken to the Legacy Hospital at Asokore Mampong for treatment.

But Mr Nyantakyi, determined to be elected as the next Member of Parliament, shrugged off his ill health and visited the voting centre Saturday morning.

In a video, he’s seen with a plaster on his hand, being held by a campaign team member as he exchanged pleasantries with people at the voting centre.

A total of 1081 delegates will decide the fate of nine aspirants seeking to represent the New Patriotic Party in the upcoming by-election in the Ejisu Constituency.

The party is holding its parliamentary primary to choose a candidate after the demise of John Ampontuah Kumah, the former Member of Parliament for Ejisu.

There have been intense campaign activities within the week as aspirants engage delegates to seek their votes.

However, the party cautions both aspirants and delegates to strictly adhere to the election guidelines and reiterates its call for aspirants not to camp delegates.

The by-election is slated for April 30, 2024.
