One person has been confirmed dead after a motorbike crashed into a truck on the Juaboso-Afere road in the Bodi-Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
The accident occurred in the late hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
The deceased, identified as Yaw David, a 30-year-old man, worked as a security guard at the Juaboso Government Hospital but stayed in Sehwi Afere [about five minutes drive from Juaboso].
He was heading home from work when his friend offered him a ride on his motorbike.
The owner of the motorbike reportedly asked Yaw to take the wheel halfway through the journey.
According to eyewitnesses, Yaw David failed to negotiate a sharp curve after overtaking a tricycle.
They crashed into a Kia Rhino with the registration number GW 3946 Z, carrying cocoa from the opposite direction.
Yaw David reportedly died on the spot, while his friend sustained severe fractures in the leg and other injuries.
The Bodi District Police transported the deceased to the Juaboso Government Hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, his friend is currently receiving treatment at the same health facility.
This comes a few hours after another motorbike accident in the same region.
Two persons have also been confirmed dead, while two others are battling for their lives in an accident on the Enchi-Mile 4 road.
The victims were reportedly riding in opposite directions when one lost control and rammed into the other motorbike.
Both riders were rushed to the Enchi Government Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.
However, the pillion riders are on admission at the same facility after sustaining life-threatening injuries.
